Sisters Declare War on Budget Cuts

Russian River Sisters in Action

July 10, 2001 -- Angered by funding cuts that have left local schools and service organizations in near poverty, the newly formed Russian River Order of The Sisters Of Perpetual Indulgence have slammed down their velvet gloves, rolled up their sleeves, hiked up their skirts and gone to work.

In the 3 months they have been at work the sisters have helped raise thousands of dollars for the Guerneville Schools' Save the Music Program and the local Women's Health Services Breast Cancer Awareness Program.

Their next fundraising event is an art exhibit/silent auction on Saturday, August 11. Titled " A New Missionary Position " this event features an exhibit of the fabulous artwork of notes San Francisco artist Thomasina Demaio. Using bold color and tongue held firmly in cheek, Thomasina has created a dazzling body of work.

The silent auction showcases an astounding array of local goods and services, from fine wines and dining experiences to luxury spa treatments and overnight stays at world class resorts and inns.

Come sample fine wines and appetizers while meeting friends new and old, supporters, activists and of course, the Sisters themselves.

A donation at the door is greatly appreciated. 100% of donations go to named beneficiaries.

Statement of beneficiaries:
Guerneville Elementary School Music Program
