Sisters keep their "Lips Together,
Teeth Apart"
Sisters to
host special premiere performance at Pegasus Theater for charity
October 16, 2003 --
Guerneville, CA. On Thursday, October 16, the Russian River Sisters of
Perpetual Indulgence will host a special preview performance of Terrance
McNally's "Lips Together, Teeth Apart" at Pegasus Theater in Monte Rio, where
the play will begin a 6 week run,
The play takes place in a Fire Island beach house, where two married couples
celebrate an uneasy Fourth of July in the middle of a gay resort community.
Sally inherited the house from her recently deceased brother. She and her
husband, Sam, invite Sam's crazy sister, Chloe and her haughty husband John to
join them for a less than restful weekend. Filled with fights and fun, the play
depicts four middle aged adults acting like children while confronting their
mortality. Trying to make sense of the fears that assault them when they're
alone and the desires that draw them together, these colorful characters create
a deeply moving comedy.
According to Frank Rich of the New York Times, LIPS TOGETHER, TEETH APART is A
comedy that hurts with equal measures of laughter and deep feeling.
Thanks to the generosity of the Pegasus Theater group, 100% of the proceeds of
this special preview performance will benefit the Russian River Sisters of
Perpetual Indulgence Grant Fund. Over the past two years the Russian River
Sisters have raised thousands of dollars for local charitable organizations,
benefiting HIV/AIDS service organizations like Face 2 Face, Food For Thought and
the AIDS Emergency Fund. Realizing that the needs of the Russian River community
go beyond HIV/AIDS, the Sisters have become active supporters of breast cancer
programs, teen counseling efforts and local school children's arts and music
programs.
"We are very grateful for this fundraising opportunity given us by The Pegasus
Theater Group" said Sister Sparkle Plenty, Vice President of the Sisters. "If we
can fill the 100 seats of the theater on October 16, we can raise some serious
dollars for our grant fund!. So please come, bring a friend and laugh out loud
while you help others in our community."
